Vitamins

When used appropriately, vitamins are generally considered safe. Keep in mind, more is not always better. Excessive doses of vitamins can be harmful. Vitamins, most of which can be obtained without a prescription, account for many calls to the NJ Poison Control Center. Children’s vitamins are usually brightly colored, have a fruity taste and are often mistaken for candy. Vitamins containing iron can be very dangerous when taken in excess. Just a few adult iron pills can be deadly to a child.
